Deepening Clinical Practice in Contemporary Somatic Psychotherapy
Available for Purchase from 22 Jun, 2026
About This Course
This advanced course is designed for clinicians seeking to deepen their integration of body-based processes within relational and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Moving beyond foundational concepts, the program offers a structured and clinically grounded exploration of embodiment, tracing its development from early Reichian theory through to contemporary somatic practices and emerging research.
Across four modules, participants will engage experientially with a range of somatic practices that enhance embodied presence in the therapeutic encounter. The course revisits Wilhelm Reich’s foundational contributions while critically examining the evolution of his ideas into modern neo-Reichian modalities. It then bridges to current practitioners and cutting-edge research in embodied psychotherapy, offering a comparative and integrative lens on how somatic thinking is applied across diverse clinical approaches.
A strong emphasis is placed on linking theory to practice. Each module incorporates case examples and invites reflection on the therapist’s own embodied experience, supporting clinicians to develop greater attunement, responsiveness, and depth in their work. In the final module, participants are guided in designing their own Contemporary Somatic Psychotherapeutic (CSP) model, integrating insights from Contemporary Trauma Theory (CTT), Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), and relational psychoanalytic frameworks.
This course is ideal for advanced clinicians looking to refine their therapeutic presence, expand their somatic repertoire, and develop a more cohesive, embodied approach to psychotherapy.
