Transference & Countertransference in Complex Trauma
Dr Christine Courtois
About This Webinar
Complex trauma profoundly shapes how individuals experience themselves, others, and the therapeutic relationship. Trauma-related patterns of attachment, betrayal, dissociation, and reenactment frequently emerge in treatment through transference and countertransference, creating both significant clinical challenges and valuable opportunities for therapeutic change.
This webinar explores how these relational dynamics unfold in psychotherapy, helping clinicians recognise trauma-specific transference patterns, understand their own countertransference responses, and navigate the emotional impact of trauma work with greater awareness, confidence, and clinical effectiveness.
