Common Clinical Errors by Therapists: What Goes Wrong in the Therapy Room - and Why?
Live Webinar: 13th May 26
About This Webinar
Therapy is a human process — and human processes involve mistakes. In this webinar we explore the hidden, often unspoken realm of “therapeutic errors” — those clinician actions, judgments, and blind spots that unintentionally undermine treatment, erode trust, or derail therapeutic progress. Drawing on research into experienced therapists’ perceptions of errors, together with decades of clinical and theoretical literature, we will examine how errors emerge: from disjunctions, distortions, misjudged timing, unrecognized countertransference, overuse of technique, lack of empathy or presence, and failure to adapt to each client’s context.
This webinar invites therapists to bring humility and self-reflection to centre stage — not to shame or blame, but to transform error awareness into clinical wisdom. Through discussion of real-world examples, empirical insights, and reflective exercises, participants will leave better equipped to recognise, prevent, and repair errors — leading to safer, more effective, and more compassionate therapeutic practice.
