Relational Bundle
The Relational Therapist: Core Processes, Presence, and Clinical Practice

About This Bundle

Contemporary psychotherapy is increasingly shaped by relational thinking. As the field has moved beyond strict technical neutrality, greater attention is now given to the interpersonal processes that unfold between therapist and client—including empathy, therapist presence, vulnerability, and the management of therapeutic distance.

This four-webinar bundle explores several core relational processes that influence the effectiveness of psychotherapy across diverse clinical contexts. Drawing from attachment theory, relational psychoanalysis, and contemporary psychodynamic research, the series examines how therapists can navigate the delicate balance between engagement and professional boundaries while maintaining clinical clarity.

Across the four sessions, participants will explore the role of empathy in therapeutic work, the implications of therapist vulnerability in an increasingly relational clinical world, and the complex task of managing therapeutic distance with clients presenting with varying attachment styles, personality structures, and psychiatric conditions. The series also introduces key relational emotion processes identified by the Boston Change Process Study Group, including implicit relational knowing and embodied interaffective communication within the therapeutic relationship.

Through case vignettes, theoretical discussion, and clinical reflection, the webinars highlight how relational dynamics shape therapeutic change, helping clinicians recognise subtle interpersonal processes that influence the therapeutic encounter.

Designed for psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, and other mental health professionals, this bundle provides a clinically grounded exploration of relational processes that deepen therapeutic understanding and enhance relational skill in practice.
